Comrade Anura Dissanayake, who pointed out that the people are being further oppressed due to the failure of the government’s economic goals, said that the government is taking away the people’s democratic rights by not holding elections. The NPP representatives pointed out that the government is acting undemocratically by threatening to summon the judges who ordered the elections to the Parliament’s Privileges Committee and suppressing people’s protests.
