U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday the Tuesday deadline he has set for Iran to make a deal is final, adding that Iran\u2019s \u2060proposal was significant but not good enough.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey made a proposal, and it\u2019s a significant proposal. It\u2019s a significant step. It\u2019s not good enough,\u201d Trump said of Iran.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt could end very quickly, \u2060the war, if they do what they have to do. They have to do certain things. \u2060They know that, they\u2019ve been negotiating I think in good faith,\u201d \u2060he said while at an annual White House Easter \u2060event.<\/p>\n
President Donald Trump also claimed that he used foul language in his Truth Social post threatening Iran on Easter Sunday \u201conly to make my point.\u201d<\/p>\n
Trump posted that morning, \u201cTuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the ******\u2019 Strait, you crazy bastards, or you\u2019ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah.\u201d<\/p>\n
A reporter asked at today\u2019s White House Easter Egg Roll why he had used the vulgar language, and Trump responded: \u201cOnly to make my point, I think you\u2019ve heard it before.\u201d<\/p>\n
Donald Trump also doubled down on his threats against Iran today, saying he had even \u201cworse\u201d options than his previous threats to bomb the nation\u2019s power plants and bridges if Tehran does not make a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019ll have no bridges, they\u2019ll have no power plants, they\u2019ll have no anything. I won\u2019t go further because there are other things that are worse than those two,\u201d Trump told reporters on the South Lawn during the White House Easter Egg Roll.<\/p>\n
The president has set a deadline of Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST for Iran to agree to a deal.<\/p>\n
A last-ditch plan calling for a temporary 45-day ceasefire was sent to the US and Iran late Sunday as an effort to stave off massive strikes on Iranian plants and other infrastructure.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump told reporters on Monday that the Iranian people \u201cwill fight back\u201d against the country\u2019s regime if they can get weapons.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Iranian people will fight back as soon as they know they\u2019re not going to be shot and as soon as they can get weapons,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n
The US president, who spoke to reporters on the sidelines of the White House Easter Egg Roll, added that in his view, if the Iranian people had weapons, \u201cIran would give up in two seconds because they wouldn\u2019t be able to take it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Trump said that the Iranian people \u201cwant to hear bombs because they want to be free.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re fighting for them. We\u2019re fighting for their future, and I will tell you, it was given to me loud and clear \u2014 the time the Iranian people are the most unhappy \u2026 is when those bombs stop,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
President Donald Trump added that the Vice President \u201ccould be\u201d involved in an in-person meeting to negotiate an end to the Iran war when reporters asked about the possibility.<\/p>\n
The president confirmed that Vice President JD Vance, US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump\u2019s son-in-law Jared Kushner are speaking with intermediary countries about the Iran war.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re all unified and they\u2019re all talking together,\u201d Trump told reporters at the White House Easter Egg Roll.<\/p>\n
CNN reported earlier on Monday that Pakistan, Egypt and Turkey have all been acting as mediators between the US and Iran but that indirect talks stalled last week and work toward an in-person meeting had appeared to end.<\/p>\n
