Christine Anjalee Thamel, a Grade 12 student of Holy Family Balika Maha Vidyalaya, Halawatha, has brought immense pride to her school and community by securing First Place at the All-Island, Provincial, and Zonal levels in the Saxophone category at the All-Island Music Competition.<\/p>\n
Residing in Katuneriya, Christine has already completed several prestigious music examinations, including the Visharadha Vocal Exam, Classical Guitar Trinity (three stages), and the Saxophone ABRSM examination. Her achievements reflect her dedication and passion for the field of music.<\/p>\n
Since her early schooling years, Christine has participated in numerous national-level competitions, winning First, Second, and Third Places in the All-Island Group Music category. Since 2018, she has consistently represented her school at national competitions, achieving remarkable success. Among her most notable recent achievements are securing Third Place in the Solo Guitar category (2024) and First Place in the Solo Saxophone category (2025).<\/p>\n
Coming from a musically gifted family, her father Aruna Nishantha Thamel is a talented organist of the Flashback Music Group, while her elder brother Kevin Angelo Thamel is a renowned music producer and composer who contributed to the new arrangement of the popular song \u201cNilwan Muhudu Theere\u201d and has worked on numerous television dramas and films. Her younger brother is currently studying in Grade 10.<\/p>\n
Expressing her gratitude, Christine said: \u201cI would like to sincerely thank Dinara, Tharushi, Jenushi, Naveesha, and Vosadi for their support in accompaniment, as well as my teachers Mrs. Anusha, Mrs. Priyanka, and Mrs. Delrin, and Mr. Prabath and Mr. Ravindra for their guidance. I\u2019m also deeply grateful to my parents, our Principal, the entire staff, and my friends for their continuous encouragement. My ambition is to successfully complete my studies and enter the University of Visual and Performing Arts.\u201d<\/p>\n
