{"id":3632,"date":"2025-05-09T09:23:36","date_gmt":"2025-05-09T03:53:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ceylontribune.com\/?p=3632"},"modified":"2025-05-09T09:23:36","modified_gmt":"2025-05-09T03:53:36","slug":"special-train-services-for-long-weekend-and-vesak-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ceylontribune.com\/?p=3632","title":{"rendered":"Special train services for long weekend and Vesak festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sri Lanka Railways has taken steps to add special train services into operation starting today (May 9) to accommodate increased passenger demand during the long weekend and the state Vesak festival.<\/p>\n<p>These special train services will operate along two major routes\u2014between Colombo Fort and Badulla, and Colombo Fort and Kankesanthurai.<\/p>\n<p>According to the department, the additional services will be in operation from May 9 to May 13, providing greater convenience for holiday and festival commuters.<\/p>\n<p>The special train schedule is as follows;<\/p>\n<p>Special train 01: Vesak Night Special<br \/>\nColombo Fort to Badulla \u2013 operates on 2025.05.09 and 13<br \/>\nDeparture (from Colombo Fort) at 07.30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Special train 02: Vesak Night Special<br \/>\nBadulla to Colombo Fort &#8211; operates on 2025.05.09 and 13<br \/>\nDeparture (from Badulla) at 05.50 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Special train 03: Vesak Morning Special<br \/>\nColombo Fort to Badulla \u2013 operates on 2025.05.10 and 12<br \/>\nDeparture (from Colombo Fort) at 08.55 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Special train 04: Vesak Morning Special<br \/>\nBadulla to Colombo Fort &#8211; operates on 2025.05.11 and 13<br \/>\nDeparture (from Badulla) at 07.05 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Special train no.4021: Intercity Express<br \/>\nColombo Fort to Kankesanthurai \u2013 operates on 2025.05.09, 12 and 13<br \/>\nDeparture (from Colombo Fort) at 05.30 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Special train no.4022: Intercity Express<br \/>\nKankesanthurai to Colombo Fort &#8211; operates on 2025.05.09, 12 and 13<br \/>\nDeparture (from Kankesanthurai) at 13.50 p.m.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sri Lanka Railways has taken steps to add special train services into operation starting today (May 9) to accommodate increased passenger demand during the long&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":2291,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"iawp_total_views":5,"footnotes":""},"categories":[2,4],"tags":[369],"class_list":["post-3632","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-leadstories","category-local","tag-train","entry"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.5 -
