{"id":3085,"date":"2025-02-20T09:10:46","date_gmt":"2025-02-20T03:40:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ceylontribune.com\/?p=3085"},"modified":"2025-02-20T09:11:30","modified_gmt":"2025-02-20T03:41:30","slug":"ganemulla-sanjeevas-killer-involved-in-dehiwala-double-murder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ceylontribune.com\/?p=3085","title":{"rendered":"Ganemulla Sanjeeva\u2019s killer involved in Dehiwala double murder?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The suspect in the killing of notorious drug trafficker and criminal gang leader Sanjeewa Kumara Samararathne alias \u201cGanemulla Sanjeewa\u201d this morning is believed to be the same gunman responsible for the recent double murder at Watarappala, Dehiwala.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, it has been revealed that the woman who had brought the weapon used in the shooting is a suspected drug dealer from Negombo.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Police Media Spokesperson SSP Buddhika Manatunga stated that in addition to prison officials, 12 Special Task Force (STF) personnel had been deployed to provide security to \u201cGanemulla Sanjeewa\u201d when he was brought to the Aluthkade Courts Complex from the Boossa Prison this morning.<\/p>\n<p>On January 07, two individuals were killed in a shooting incident on Watarappala Road, Mount Lavinia, which had been carried out by two unidentified gunmen.<\/p>\n<p>According to police, the gunmen had arrived at a residence on a motorcycle around 4:25 a.m. and opened fire using a 9mm pistol and a homemade \u2018Galkatas\u2019 handgun.<\/p>\n<p>The victims were identified as Sudath Gomes alias Mano, 36, who died on the spot, and Chanaka Vimukthi alias Sandun, 20, who succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila.<\/p>\n<p>Police suspect the incident is tied to a longstanding feud between two drug traffickers infamously known as \u2018Badowita Asanka\u2019 and \u2018Kosmalli\u2019, both who are believed to be operating from overseas.<\/p>\n<p>Police allege that the attack was carried out by associates of \u2018Kosmalli\u2019, as the two victims had connections with drug trafficker \u2018Badowita Asanka\u2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The suspect in the killing of notorious drug trafficker and criminal gang leader Sanjeewa Kumara Samararathne alias &ldquo;Ganemulla Sanjeewa&rdquo; this morning is believed to be&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":3087,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"iawp_total_views":10,"footnotes":""},"categories":[2,4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-3085","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-leadstories","category-local","entry"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Ganemulla Sanjeeva\u2019s killer involved in Dehiwala double murder?
